Throughout history, it is a striking observation that very few individuals have dared to confront society’s deepest dogmas. The majority of humanity spends their entire lives within the safe boundaries set by culture, religion, ideology, and, above all, the desire for personal security. The Maksima individual, however, chooses the exact opposite: to live dangerously, uncompromisingly, and truthfully. The question remains: Why is this path so rarely trodden?

The answer lies in a combination of external dangers and internal resistance.

Firstly, there is the obvious risk. Attacking society’s foundation is tantamount to exposing oneself to ridicule, rejection, and hostility. Personal relationships may wither, careers may collapse, and the world closes in. Most people prefer the comfort of silence over that which follows radical truthfulness.

Furthermore, the deep-seated need for belonging plays a crucial role. Humans crave acceptance; people long for communities and tribes. A Maksima individual demands the courage to renounce belonging as a predestined necessity or obligation and stand as a sovereign individual. Such courage is a rare commodity.

In addition, there is the requirement of endurance. Building and sustaining a total worldview, and acting in accordance with it, demands much time devoted to intense intellectual work and enormous emotional strength. Many may start this journey, but almost all will stop before the goal is reached.

Contemporary societies also exert significant pressure through the weight of history. In an age that preaches equality and conformity, the desire to rise above the masses – to live like an Alexander the Great – is treated as arrogance, even as madness. This social pressure for conformity, or rather, mediocrity, chokes the ambition for the exceptional.

Finally, it is a question of individual character. A vanishingly small number of people are simply incapable of living a life of compromise. For them, the call is irresistible: to speak, act, and fight for one’s stance. They are driven by necessity rather than choice. The Maksima path is therefore the rarest of all: the path chosen by the few who cannot betray their own will, and that is precisely why these few hold such great significance.
